El Portal sits on Biscayne Bay with the Little River running through it. Protecting the river, our canopy, and our native wildlife is climate resilience, fiscal sense, and property values all at once.

About Danny
I’ve worked in Miami’s health district since 2009, first at the University of Miami and for the last 12 years at Jackson Health System. That work taught me how to show up, do the homework, and take responsibility for the people counting on me.
My wife and I have called El Portal home for 14 years, and we’ve tried to practice what I preach in our own yard. We planted native trees when we moved in, and a decade later we have a pollinator garden that draws birds, butterflies, and even glowing click beetles. We compost. We’ve tried, not always successfully, to grow our own vegetables. We keep our lights off at night for the animals who share the yard after dark.
That same care led me to the board of the Little River Conservancy and the El Portal Tree Board. I wanted to actually understand these issues before claiming to represent them.
Leadership matters. Residents deserve leadership that respects them, works for the community, and isn’t afraid to stand up when outside interests come knocking.
